Does The Miracle Magic Pill Finally Exist?
It seems that skinny is back on trend, but the ways our favourite Hollywood stars are doing it should be approached with extreme caution.
I have written about the woes of celebrity weight loss a number of times, but are the lies and falsities worse than we may have even anticipated?
It seemed we had reached a moment in time when people began to embrace their bodies. Curves and boobs were back in fashion, body positivity made some waves and I was here for most of it.
Are we now seeing a U-turn where it seems that skinny at all costs is back in Vogue?
We have seen Chloe and Kim drop dramatic amounts of weight this year, but have they been telling the truth about how it was achieved?
Even though Kim’s methods were questionable at the time of the Met Gala when her butt busted out of that Marolyn Monroe dress, it seems she has continued to lose even more weight.
Khloe claims that she lost her post-baby 60 lb and said ‘I would rather put more effort into the gym than the kitchen” yet then goes on to talk about Keto and Intermittent Fasting. I am literally slapping my face into my hand!!
And whilst this is still speculation, no one really knows apart from her how she actually did it, but now claims are being made that it could be down to the new injectable weight loss drug Ozempic.
All of which leaves me to believe that as beautiful as these women, and how perfect they claim their lives to be, I would seriously question any health or wellness advice that comes out of their mouths.
We need to stop putting celebrities up on a pedestal and making their lives and bodies the whole grail of #bodygoals.
The drug Ozempic was invented to help severely obese people to lose weight.
According to their website, it’s “medicine for adults with type 2 diabetes used to improve blood sugar, along with diet and exercise, and reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease”
For these people who have struggled for years with their weight, this really could be a life-changing/saving drug. But right next to that explanation of who the drug is for is the very bold warning right on the front page.
Ozempic® may cause serious side effects, including:
- Possible thyroid tumours, including cancer. Ozempic® may cause serious side effects, including:
- inflammation of your pancreas (pancreatitis).
- Changes in vision
- Low blood sugar
- Kidney problems (kidney failure)
- Serious allergic reactions
- Gallbladder problems
So if someone who is at risk of disease because of their weight, the benefits of this drug may outweigh the side effects. But for a perfectly healthy person to take a drug such as this for vanity measures, is a very risky game to play. Especially when they are telling the world that their weight loss is because of some special diet they have been doing.
Would you stump up $1,500 a shot and risk your life all in the name of skinny?
At what cost?
The drug has a clear warning on its website, heck that warning is right there on the front page. Particularly risky to the Thyroid gland and may cause Thyroid cancer!!!
The thyroid gland is a vital hormone gland, it is known as the master of metabolism. It plays a major role in the metabolism, growth and development of the human body.
If it’s shown to cause cancer, what other damage could this drug be doing to this vital gland? What impact could that have on your long-term health?
Oh yey, you can be skinny, but you could also be dead or in severe pain in the not-too-distant future! Wahooo, can’t wait!
What happens if you were ever to stop taking the shots?
Are you left with a glad that is completely wrecked and destined to just gain all of the weight back?
Is It All Relative?
We know that a lot of things are bad for us, but that doesn’t stop everyone from doing them.
We know that smoking can cause lung cancer, yet many people still do it.
We know that drinking alcohol can cause liver damage and other issues, yet we still do it.
We know that overeating junk food can cause a whole host of body dysfunction, and yet people still do it.
We know that taking steroids can cause liver damage yet many stars still take them to look ripped and defined for the big screen.
So is it really any different and maybe we shouldn’t be so surprised or disgusted?
With all the knowledge of the risks associated with our behaviors and actions, people will still go and do these things, that’s their choice. It’s anybody’s choice what they do with their own body.
But my issue comes when they fail to tell the truth about how they got there.
When they come to sell their interview and explain the benefits of their amazing new diet, feeding us mere mortals with lies and BS.
This a clear reminder to take everything that we see in Hollywood with a pinch of salt and don’t be so naive as to believe the rubbish they feed us.
Know your own mind, know your own body, love your body for all that it is and all that it has done for you. Work on your health because it helps you to feel good about yourself.
And…….maybe stop comparing yourself or seeking any advice from the unreachable standard that Hollywood portrays!
