Oliver Hudson Navigated his Relationships with Two Father Figures

He shared his experience of addressing these issues at the Hoffman Institute, which focuses on helping individuals understand and overcome patterns inherited from parents and step-parents.”

“Hudson intends to navigate his connections with two paternal figures: his biological father, Bill Hudson, from whom Hawn separated in 1980, and Kurt Russell, whom Hudson has had a relationship with since 1983.”

“I entered with the expectation that it would primarily focus on my biological father and then Kurt, my stepfather who raised me,” Hudson explained. “But unexpectedly, it was the absence of my father that struck me. I had assumed my relationship with my mother would be straightforward since she had always been a constant presence in my life.”

Hudson’s experience at the Hoffman Institute turned out to be entirely different from his initial expectations.

“It completely turned around. Surprisingly, it was my mother who emerged as the central focus,” he elaborated. “I realized I harbored a significant amount of trauma associated with her, despite her being my primary caregiver and constantly present in my life. There were moments where I felt unprotected.”

“She would often be busy with work or away, or she would introduce new boyfriends whom I didn’t connect with,” he went on. “While she was undeniably an exceptional mother, this was my own childhood perception, feeling the absence of a father and needing her presence, which sometimes wasn’t there. Interestingly, during my time at Hoffman, her role emerged as more significant than even my absent father.”
