Mila Kunis And Ashton Kutcher Are Reportedly ‘Shocked To Their Core’ About Being Cancelled After The Danny Masterson Scandal

The beginning of 2024 seems to be a low-key period for Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, who are reportedly attempting to maintain a low profile following criticism for endorsing convicted rapist Danny Masterson.

As a reminder, the couple faced significant backlash when the character statements they had written in support of their That ’70s Show co-star, who was on trial for rape, became public. Despite issuing heartfelt apologies and Kutcher stepping down from his position as chairman of a non-profit aimed at combating child sexual exploitation, they still face cancellation from fans. This is why they are currently trying to stay out of the public eye.

Mila Kunis And Ashton Kutcher Are ‘Shocked’ About The Public’s Reaction

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher find themselves in a state of astonishment over the public’s response to their letters of support for their former co-star, as per information from an insider shared with In Touch Weekly. The 40-year-old Black Swan actress and the 45-year-old No Strings Attached actor are reportedly taken aback by the way their support has been received. The insider emphasized that the couple, who were once genuinely liked and highly respected, are now grappling with the realization that this situation serves as a substantial wake-up call for them. They are deeply shocked and are actively attempting to stay out of the public eye, making a concerted effort to lay low. Their primary concern is to prevent any potential long-term repercussions on their careers.

According to the insider, the married couple, parents to 9-year-old daughter Wyatt and 7-year-old son Dimitri, firmly believed in Masterson’s potential exoneration. The insider emphasized that the notion of one of their closest friends being capable of such a heinous act did not register with them at the time.

In hindsight, the insider pointed out that the couple now recognizes their decision was ultimately disastrous, completely backfiring and causing significant repercussions. Regardless of any reasoning they may offer, it doesn’t change the fact that they publicly supported a convicted rapist—a situation that is perceived as horrific, irrespective of any attempts to reframe it.

Fans Are Divided On Social Media

Numerous individuals on social media expressed their opinions in the comments section of an In Touch Weekly Instagram post on January 2nd. One commenter stated, “Essentially, they’re surprised that their actions are facing consequences.” Another remarked, “What did they expect? I mean, seriously.” Another reader commented, “I’m surprised that they are surprised,” and a respondent echoed, “Exactly,” with another emphasizing, “Literally.” Another Instagram user shared, “I was utterly disgusted by the decision they made,” referring to their choice to write supportive letters.

Conversely, some users defended the couple, with one person stating, “He was presumed innocent until proven guilty. They believed in his innocence at that time.” Another commenter expressed, “If they genuinely didn’t believe he was guilty, I could understand them writing a letter. They all grew up together.”

Another perspective emerged, with a user arguing, “This is absurd. We’ve all had friends who’ve done things we had no clue about. You usually give them the benefit of the doubt.” Another added, “I don’t see what’s wrong with them supporting their friend. They thought he was innocent and showed support. People don’t have to conform to every opinion. That’s what’s wrong with this world – no one can have a different opinion or belief without someone saying you’re wrong! Leave them alone!”
