It’s incredibly difficult to tell if someone finds you attractive.

At least, that’s what I used to think. We spend a lot of time wondering if our crush likes us back. But for one reason or another, we often find it extremely difficult to recognize the signs of attraction.

If you’re anything like my past-self, that’s something which has crossed your mind. But I’ve discovered that the best way to find out if someone’s attracted to you is by learning how to recognize the signs.

So if you notice someone displaying any of these signs, it’s certainly a strong indication that they’re secretly attracted to you.

They Act Differently Around You.

When people fall in love, they play with their hair, look down at the ground, and act incredibly nervous because they’re overthinking everything they say and do. In case you hadn’t already guessed, all of those signs are cliches for a reason: they’re true.

During my teenage years, I had a crush on this amazing girl. We were already best friends and spent several hours each day hanging out together. But as I started to recognize that I was genuinely falling in love, I became increasingly nervous whenever I saw her.

The truth is that I didn’t want to make things awkward and ruin what we already had. So for a long time, I kept my feelings to myself and did my best to avoid doing anything stupid that would sabotage our friendship.

But as time went by, she noticed that I was shy whenever we spent time together. I couldn’t help it. So one evening, while we were studying in her bedroom, she looked into my eyes and asked how I felt.

I told her everything. At first, I was extremely nervous as she took a while to process what I said. But after a few moments, she put her arms around me, said she felt the same way, and kissed me. Honestly, words cannot express how happy I felt that day.

So pay attention to what someone does and says. Do they act differently around you? Are they a lot more shy than normal? If the answer to either of those questions is yes, there’s certainly a strong connection.

They Can’t Stop Smiling.

When someone smiles every single time you speak, pay attention. Because when you’re able to make someone feel incredibly happy whenever you’re together, it’s often a sign that they enjoy being in your presence.

I’ll give you a personal example. I used to spend a lot of time with this incredible girl while I lived in Melbourne. And whenever I spoke, she always looked at me with a beautiful gaze and smiled.

At first, I thought she was acting that way because she was enjoying our conversations. But as time went by, she started giving subtle hints that she had a crush on me.

One day, we were walking along the beach, and she told me exactly how she felt. She said that she felt incredibly happy and grateful to have me in her life. And deep down, I felt exactly the same way.

There’s a beautiful quote from Epictetus, which speaks about the importance of spending time with people that make you happy. It goes like this:

“The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best.”

So if you want to know if someone finds you attractive, pay attention to their facial expressions whenever you’re together. After all, it’s a natural part of human nature to smile whenever we’re with someone that makes us incredibly happy. Marilyn Monroe said it best:

“Beauty only gets attention, but personality captures the heart.”

Learning the signs of attraction has improved every aspect of my dating life for the better. Because now I can recognize if someone likes me, it’s easier to stop worrying about rejection and anything else that previously held me back from asking them out.
