Saudi Arabia continues to be largest source of remittances for Pakistan
On Tuesday, February 4, the exchange rate of the Saudi Riyal (SAR) against the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) saw a slight increase, reaching Rs74.39 in Pakistan’s open market.
The selling rate also increased, with the Riyal being traded at Rs74.60 on the second day of the new business week.
The Saudi Riyal (SAR or SR) is Saudi Arabia’s official currency, where one Riyal is divided into 100 halalas.

Pakistan’s large expatriate community in Saudi Arabia remains a significant source of remittances. In December 2024 alone, overseas Pakistanis in the kingdom sent a record remittance of $770.6 million.
This figure represented a 6% rise from the previous month and was 33% higher than the $577.6 million remitted during the same month last year.
