Bollywood Icon Dharmendra Passes Away at 89 in Mumbai

Legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra, often remembered as the industry’s beloved He-Man, has passed away at the age of 89 in Mumbai. The veteran star was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital earlier this month due to severe breathing problems.

Despite medical care, Dharmendra breathed his last on Monday morning. His death marks the end of an era in Indian cinema, leaving fans and celebrities devastated as they pay heartfelt tributes to his extraordinary legacy.

With a remarkable career spanning over six decades, Dharmendra delivered some of the most iconic performances in Bollywood history. He starred in unforgettable classics such as Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Phool Aur Patthar and many other timeless films that shaped Hindi cinema.

The late actor’s final film appearance will be in the upcoming movie Ikkis, where he plays a significant role. The film is set to release in theatres on December 25, making it his last on-screen contribution.

Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s wife, along with their daughter Esha Deol, arrived at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle for the final rites. Top Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, and others also gathered to pay their respects.

Dharmendra is survived by six children. With his first wife, Prakash Kaur, he had four children — Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta Deol, and Ajeeta Deol. He later married his Sholay co-star Hema Malini in 1980, with whom he has two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

As fans across the world mourn the loss of one of Bollywood’s greatest legends, Dharmendra’s contributions to Indian cinema will continue to inspire generations.
