MANCHESTER UNITED fans are fuming at referee Jon Moss after he ended the Red Devils’ tie with Burnley early.
United were close to suffering their first defeat under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last night.
But late goals from Paul Pogba and Victor Lindelof ensured the Norwegian maintained his unbeaten start at the club.
However, in the closing stages of the clash, United were pushing to find a winner at Old Trafford and fans expected more added time to be stuck on the clock after Lindelof’s 92nd minute equaliser.
But with a potential third United goal on the cards, referee Moss decided to call time on the match before the initial five minutes of extra time had even finished.
And fans are not happy about the official’s decision.
“Jon Moss is an absolute joke. There surely should have been time added on because of the goal, he stops our attack by touching the ball and yet he blows before the 5 mins were up,” one supporter tweeted.
“Jon Moss just ended the game before the full 5 minutes?” one added.
“Have to say that Jon Moss is one of the worst referees in football. 5 minutes are added in stoppage time. During those 5 minutes we scored and Burnley players were delaying time. Yet he still blows the whistle early,” another wrote.
“Jon Moss = useless. No added time for all the time wasting by burnley in stoppage time and he blows the whistle before even 5 minutes are up. Utterly useless today as a ref,” one said.
“Jon Moss is a below par match official…” added a fifth.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer said: “The comeback was brilliant, the players have been asked about how they would react if they went 1-0 or 2-0 down so I felt the comeback was fantastic.
“We had loads of chances, loads of possession, we didn’t deserve to lose. But we did it to ourselves really.
“We fought, that wasn’t the problem. We were just too slow in possession in the first half.
“For the first goal we played our way into trouble. It wasn’t the attitude, the application was too slow and the tempo on the ball wasn’t good enough. But the reaction was good.
“We disappointed ourselves and we disappointed the crowd today, but the ones who stayed had a typical Old Trafford finish to the game so that was a big plus.”
