In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are some more notes on John Morrison’s return to WWE.
On Friday, Morrison shot down PWInsider’s story about him returning but he has to deny because WWE tells wrestlers to stay quiet when they signs so they can make the announcement on their website. Morrison has told his friends that he has a place he is going and he is not allowed to say anything. It’s possible that he can pop up on AEW Dynamite but if that is the case then it would be a change from what was expected for months and that is a return to WWE.
Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Morrison’s return to WWE had been talked about before his Impact Wrestling contract expired.
He had considered going back to WWE for a while but the hold up was that he was trying to break into acting and that would require a lighter schedule. At 39 years old and with the pay scale going up, it makes sense for him to make a big move in wrestling right now.
So, if he has indeed signed with WWE, the question is what brand will he appear on. Raw, SmackDown and NXT are all possibilities and I would bet there’s a good chance we could see him this week since this is the week when a bunch of people will be returning or debuting on AEW and WWE TV.
In fact, two WWE stars are set to return this Friday Night on SmackDown.
